America's White Evangelical Goats Face Judgment

America has endured nearly five years of Donald Trump’s deeply disturbing dictatorial, disordered, malicious, self-serving reign of terror—and nearly a decade of his noxious influence. It’s time for the nation’s nightmare to end. The madman has served his purpose.

Donald’s Divine Purpose

I’m becoming convinced that Donald Trump’s purpose was to, as Jesus is quoted in the 25^th chapter of Matthew’s Gospel, “…separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.” I refer here to a principle rather than to a specific prophecy. I am not implying that the world has entered the final days prophesied in the Bible. But I do believe—and I’m not alone in this belief—that God has used Donald Trump to highlight adherence to true biblical beliefs and behaviors while simultaneously exposing dogged devotion to dangerously misguided dogmas and deeds.

As John Fugelsang eloquently highlights in his book Separation of Church and Hate, Jesus plainly explained that a time will come when He will judge people and nations based solely on how they treated their less-fortunate neighbors. And based on that standard, MAGA has spectacularly missed the mark.

The Goats’ Recalcitrant Religiosity

Even so, God is gracious. MAGA folks still can repent. But most will not. They are goats. According to Animal Extreme World, “Goats are equally known for their stubborn nature. They have a strong will and can be quite independent, often choosing their own path even when directed otherwise.”

After effectively crowning Trump their new messiah, the majority of America’s conservative white evangelicals have stubbornly continued to excuse—and even celebrate—his most vile and hate-filled rhetoric and policies. Almost daily, Trump says or does things that would have been unimaginable scandals in previous presidential administrations. And, finally, because of these many scandals, his support is diminishing—except among white evangelicals, who are certain they are the small remnant of true Christians.

Justice Delayed Is Not Justice Denied

So—even as President Trump declares that many of his detractors in the Democratic Party deserve to be killed for daring to advise active-duty military personnel that they should not obey illegal orders—most white evangelicals remain either meekly mute or stubbornly supportive of this depraved man.

Goats are stubborn; they are tenaciously stiff-necked. Humanity’s goats eventually will be held accountable in the court of the coming kingdom—and perhaps sooner in the courts of this constitutional, democratic republic—because they have aided their messiah’s unlawful attempts to rebuild the nation as his tyrannical monarchy.
