"Look Over There." No, Don't Fall for Trump's Lies Aimed at Distracting.

Don't Be Distracted
Don't Be Distracted

  • MAGA influencer Lance Johnston is the secret love child of Senator Lyndsey Graham and Representative Nancy Mace.

  • CPAC is a cover group for North Korean spies and infiltrators.

  • Fox commentators Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters are secretly gay lovers.

  • Elon Musk left his work in the Trump administration because his Russian handler gave him a new assignment.

  • JFK Jr. is alive and working in the Trump administration; he is disguised as RFK Jr. (RFK Jr. succumbed to the brain worms he’d told us all about years ago.)

  • Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have together built a gigantic, palatial, underground bunker, made to withstand a 100-megaton nuclear bomb explosion. When WW III ends, they will emerge from their bunker and together begin rebuilding a new fascist-dominated world.

  • A pink squirrel is sitting on your backyard fence, eating a box of Cracker Jack while playing with a shiny, silver medallion.

Obviously, each of the above statements is false, as any thinking, reasonably well-informed person would quickly surmise. Unfortunately, too many people are not well-informed and do not like to think.

And it is to those ill-informed, indolent, conspiracy-obsessed zealots that the current President of the United States is pitching whoppers even more outrageous than most of those listed above. Why? He is doing so because he wants that pink squirrel on the fence to distract his followers from their obsession with the Jeffrey Epstein files.

In this case, however, the pink squirrel is actually a Black man—America’s first Black President, and the immediate predecessor of the man pitching the whoppers. President Donald Trump is repeatedly alleging that former President Barack Obama—with other high-level accomplices—rigged the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. Trump has accused Obama of literal treason:

And except for the fact that he gets shielded by the press for his entire life, that’s the one they — look, he’s guilty. It’s not a question. You know, I like to say, “Let’s give it time. It’s there. He’s guilty.” They — this was treason, this was every word you can think of.

And now, according to Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, “Obama and his national security cabinet members manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President Trump.”

However, according to University of Missouri law professor Frank O. Bowman III, “Nothing in her document even shows that Obama tried to put his finger on the scale on either the information leak conclusion or the election infrastructure conclusion. And even if he had, that would not be a coup. Or indeed a crime of any kind.”

And, as stated by Obama spokesperson Patrick Rodenbush,

Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes. These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio.

Not insignificant is the fact that Marco Rubio is now Trump’s Secretary of State. Even more significant is the fact that, unlike Trump in 2020, Obama graciously acknowledged that the opposition party won the 2016 election, and he facilitated the smooth and peaceful transfer of power to Trump.

Donald J. Trump, longtime best friend of Jeffrey Epstein, sees that the walls are closing in on him and he’s feverishly casting about, using any means he can think of to distract the American public from the truth about his involvement in the abuse of young girls. Spouting ridiculous lies has been—sadly—one of Trump’s most-effective weapons. We shouldn’t be surprised at his use of lies to distract. We can expect more of the same.
